Width and height

Resize an image for an upload form.

Enter the maximum width and height the form allows, or pick one of the common sizes. Filnixa scales your image to fit inside those numbers without cropping, then checks the result.

A 1200 × 1200 limit is preselected. Type your own numbers if the form asks for something else.

Why forms limit pixels

Dimensions are the width and height of a picture in pixels, written as 1200 × 900. A site that only ever displays an image at 600 pixels wide gains nothing from a 4000 pixel original, so it refuses one.

Pixel limits are separate from file size limits. An image can be well under the megabyte cap and still be rejected for being too wide.

How Filnixa resizes

Your image is scaled down so both sides sit inside the limits you entered, keeping the original proportions exactly.

If you also set a maximum file size, Filnixa resizes first and then compresses, which is the order that keeps the most detail.

The new width, height and file size are shown next to the old ones so you can see exactly what changed.
