Privacy policy
Last updated: 6 September 2026
The short version: your files are processed on your own device and are not uploaded to Filnixa. This page explains the details in plain language.
What Filnixa does with your files
Filnixa checks and fixes image files in your browser. When you select a file, your own browser reads it, measures it and, if you ask, resizes, converts or compresses it. The file is not uploaded to Filnixa for processing, and we never see its contents.
When you remove or replace a file, or close the page, the browser copy is released.
What we collect
- Technical request information. Like most websites, the hosting and infrastructure that serve Filnixa may receive and log technical information when you visit, such as your IP address, browser and device information, timestamps and request metadata. This is used to deliver the site, keep it secure and diagnose problems.
- Messages you send us. If you contact us, we receive your email address and whatever you write.
What we do not collect
- The image files you check or fix, and their contents.
- Account information. Filnixa has no accounts and no sign-up.
- Analytics or advertising profiles. Filnixa does not use analytics or tracking cookies.
Why we use this information and our lawful basis
We use technical request information to operate and protect the site. Where data protection law applies, our lawful basis is our legitimate interest in running a functional, secure website.
If you contact us, we use your message and email address to reply. Our lawful basis is our legitimate interest in responding to you, or taking steps at your request.
Who we share information with
The companies that host and deliver the site process technical request information on our behalf so the site can run. We do not sell personal information, and we do not share it with advertisers.
We may disclose information if the law requires it, or to protect the rights and safety of Filnixa, its users or others.
How long information is kept
We do not keep your files: they never leave your device.
Server and security logs are kept only for as long as needed to run and protect the site, following the retention settings of our hosting infrastructure. We will state exact periods here once they are confirmed.
If you email us, we keep the conversation for as long as needed to deal with it, then delete it unless we need to keep it for a legal reason.
Security
The site is served over HTTPS. Because your files are processed on your own device, they are not exposed to us in transit. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we limit what exists to protect in the first place by not collecting your files.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access the personal information we hold about you, correct it, delete it, restrict or object to how we use it, receive a copy in a portable format, and withdraw consent where we rely on it. To use any of these rights, contact us at the address below. We may need to verify your request.
International transfers
The infrastructure that delivers Filnixa may process technical information in countries other than your own. Where the law requires safeguards for those transfers, we rely on the safeguards provided by our infrastructure providers.
Children
Filnixa is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. Because files are processed on the user's own device, children can use the checker without sending us anything.
How to complain
If you are unhappy with how we handle your information, contact us first and we will try to resolve it. You also have the right to complain to your data protection authority. In the UK that is the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO). If you live elsewhere, you can contact your local authority.
Changes to this policy
If we change how Filnixa handles information, we will update this page and change the date at the top before the change takes effect.
